As we all know we have a few untrained adults. Boy Scouts of America through the Journey to Excellence program has set troop-level goals for the training of adult leaders. In order to reach the gold level, your Troop’s Scoutmaster and 60% of Assistant Scoutmasters have to have completed Scoutmaster Leader Specific and Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills training, plus two-thirds of your active committee members must have completed Troop Committee Challenge. Don’t we all want our Troops to be Gold!
Not to worry… We have some training coming up soon to help you get your adults trained.
Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, January 30, 2016 from 8 am – 12:30 pm at the Council office, Youth Leadership Training Center, 1001 Davis St., San Leandro, CA.
Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills, February 10 from 7 pm – 10 pm at the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office – Dublin, and February 26th at 5pm to February 28th, 2016 to 4 pm at Rancho Los Mochos – Livermore.
Troop Committee Challenge, March 19, 2016 from 9 am – 11 am at the Council office, Youth Leadership Training Center, 1001 Davis St., San Leandro, CA. This course may also be taken on-line at myscouting.org.
Of course, we do have a few spaces left for this year’s Wood Badge Course. Leadership is the Bedrock of Scouting! Wood Badge 2016 is leadership! Both weekends are required: February 19-21, 2016 at YLTC in San Leandro and March 12-14, 2016 at Rancho Los Mochos.
Anyone can register for the training at http://scoutertraining.org/?url=basic.php
They will need to sign up for an account and then access the training to register for the course. Once you are registered, then the details of the training will be e-mailed to the participants.
I hope to see your Troop represented at our next training event!
